Formed in 2013 by musical director Jez Murphy, Swingtime Big Band quickly established a reputation as a dynamic and highly skilled outfit with fine musicianship and entertaining performances. The bands popularity continues to grow and sees them performing to sold out shows across the North West. Featuring the finest Big Band players Swingtime is complimented by vocalist Emma Holcroft who sings a wide repertoire of classic jazz standards.
More recently the band has been joined on several occasions by Big Band legend Andy Prior at Southport and they have recently played at Wigan International Jazz Festival.
And of course last year, they opened the Southport Jazz Festival with Clare Teal – who can forget ?
Swingtime are delighted to be joined for this show by both Emma Holcroft and the fabulous Matt Ford who is widely regarded as the finest big band singer in the UK, performing for 5 years with the multi-award winning Syd Lawrence Orchestra. In 2006 Matthew was voted ‘Best UK Male Big Band Vocalist’. Matt makes regular appearances with the RTE and BBC Concert Orchestras, and has also worked with the Northern Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle and Philharmonia Orchestras.
As a big band vocalist Matthew is always in demand, working with the BBC Big Band, Grammy nominated John Wilson Orchestra and many others including the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.
The band will also be swinging their way through classic Big Band favourites from the libraries of Count Basie, Woody Herman, Ted Heath to name just a few.
